Amy Jones, the very talented singer songwriter was born 4 March 1993 and raised in the town of Paarl. In association with Jirah Productions and Lee Willcock (manager since 2016), she crafted her look, music and image, culminating in the release of her debut single “Sunrise”, produced by Cape Town’s Colin Sher and releasing it nationally in October 2016, to critical acclaim from radio and her Fans. The single secured play-listings on a number of radio stations countrywide.
With the single still riding high into the first 2 months of 2017, Amy Jones began recording her follow-up record, also Produced by Colin. “Burn” launched onto the radio-waves capturing play-listings from Jacaranda, Groot FM, Matie FM, Heart FM and garnered “Chamberlains Hot Hits of the week”. A string of live shows followed (including a sell-out headline in her hometown of Paarl), further concreting Amy’s name as a rising star in SA Music, rubber-stamped with over 100,000 views of her video, via social media, in the space of the first 5 days.
Amy’s third single, “Forget the day”, which was released to the public in October 2017, as a collaboration with Caleb Williams and produced by Ameen Harron. Moving into the Urban “space”, opening-up Amy’s appeal to a wider audience, 5fm was granted an ‘exclusive’ first airing, with the other stations all following in hot pursuit.
By July 2018, her fourth single hit the radio stations, emerging out of a surprising yet inspiring collaboration with Cinimin (Kyle and Austin) released through Sony Music. The song, titled ‘YOU AND ME’, Amy Jones was the featured artist and co-writer with Kyle, Austin and also Caleb, which is still on rotation on many national and provincial radio stations. This single opened more new doors as a very fresh, upbeat and “heavyweight” song within the EDM genre and its’ success resulted with the song being nominated and winning the accolade: “Best EDM song of the year” at the Dance Music Awards 2018. Although this introduced Amy Jones to a new musical territory, she totally “nailed it”, evident by the amount of downloads and shazams achieved. Amy Jones has become increasingly popular and known amongst her newly acquired fans and listeners as well as experiencing a marked growth in followers within her Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts.
The fifth release to public and the airwaves in November 2018, is a song called “Get a Little”, this song was created and written at an Active Music Songwriting Camp, hosted at Cosher Studios. Amy Jones wrote this song alongside Caleb Williams, Lakota Silver and Ben Bruckman and was produced and mixed by Kyle Petersen and Mick Evans at Melpro Studios.
Aside from her solo shows around the Cape, Amy Jones has been invited to perform with a plethora of highly established SA Artists, from Matthew Gold, to Vicky Sampson, from Francois van Coke to Jo Black and includes the “GHFM United Hope Initiative”, where Amy Jones shared the stage with Kyle Deutsch, Dominic Neil, New Hero to name but a few. Her most humbling experience so far, was a special invite from Mi Casa, to be their opening act at their V&A Grand Africa show in September.
Amy Jones remains grounded and God is her main focus and her foundation in life. Giving up is never an option, as she strives to make her music her passion as well as an inspiration for others. Amy and her team are looking forward to closing the year on another high, paving the way for more incredible music in 2019, more live shows and following her dream to it is full of potential with vision, hope and glory.
